Why You Should Be Yourself and Fly Your Freak Flag

by Anne Bellamy, author of Using The Law of Attraction To Help The Universe Help You.

Recently I read a blogpost by Steven E. Rice entitled To Thine Own Self Be True and it really struck a chord with me. In this post Steven says "I have lived afraid to speak my truth. How about you?"  Good question, and I think one that most of us can answer "Yes" to. I know that's my answer.

After all, how many people are expecting us to be certain things?  Parents, siblings, spouses, children, friends?
They all have an idea on how we are supposed to be, think and act.  To change that can really upset the applecart.

Thing is, you can't get what you want, unless you be who you are.  Just won't happen.  You'll get other people's results, not your own.

So, who am I?  I'm someone who is into the law of attraction and spirituality.  I've written a book, or rather I co-wrote it with Efram who is my spiritual guide.....five years ago I would have laughed my head off at the thought, but there you have it.

In the spirit of having a little fun, I've compiled a list of other things about me:

1. I am messy.  The worst housekeeper ever.

2. I have terrible penmanship and I can't draw.  I HATE Pictionary.

3. I am extremely punctual. (my boyfriend prefers to use the word annoyingly....)

4. I am utterly, totally, and completely addicted to Survivor (please, producers, let Canadians play!)

5. My sense of humour is fairly immature.  I like the silly, inappropriate and sometimes rude. I giggle like a little girl.

6. I don't carry tissues or painkillers, ever. (I've been told I'm not a "normal" woman because of this)

7. I simply cannot share any dairy product with anyone.  No you may not have some of my ice cream.

8. If they weren't so fatty, I could easily consume a jarful of olives in one sitting.

9. I know all the words to "Copacabana" and if you get me drunk enough I will belt them out for you. (but be warned, and I cannot sing)

10. I love to travel, not only to see lots of amazing places, but because I like feeling slightly out of place.  I like being the odd one out.

There's many more, but I'll stop at 10. How about you?  Fly your freak flag!

How The Universe Can Nudge You Back on Track

By Anne Bellamy, Author of
Using The Law of Attraction To Help The Universe Help You

Last week was a tough week for me.  Every day I encountered someone who was either angry, or rude, or stubborn, or difficult.  Every Day!!! It wasn't until after 3 or 4 days of this that I thought "wait, a minute, what's going on here?  Why am I crossing paths with all these difficult people?"

I realized the answer was pretty simple.  I've been busy lately.  Very busy.  In fact, so busy that I've let a few things drop.  Exercise.  Meditation.  Visualization.  These are all things that I whole-heartedly believe and participate in.  Except when I get busy.  I tend to "leave them for another day".  Oops, my bad.  I've been so busy that I didn't even notice what I was doing.

But that's okay, and here's why:

One of the things that I ask of the Universe is to nudge me when I get off track.  Well, last week, the Universe wasn't just nudging me, but downright shoving me and shouting in my face....literally! (the shouting part, not the shoving)

Time to get the schedule out.  I've now made time for Exercise, Meditation and Visualization.  (And yes, that means getting up earlier)

This week has been much better.  More harmonious.  More pleasant.  Same work is getting done, it's just been easier.

When people are difficult with you, remember two things:

1) Their anger, rudeness, resentment, etc is their issue, not yours.  Don't be a sponge. Be Teflon.

2) Maybe it's time for you to take a break.  Relax. Sit back, and meditate.  Have some fun.  Get positive.

The Universe can help you, if you let it.

Why You Should Talk To Happiness

By Anne Bellamy, Author of Using The Law of Attraction To Help The Universe Help You

Most people, when they want to attract something positive in their lives, focus on what makes them happy.  They think about big houses, fast cars, exotic vacations, etc.  There's absolutely nothing wrong with that, in fact, keep it up!

What I'd like to suggest is that you take it one step further.  Instead of thinking about what makes you happy, why not try talking to Happiness?

That's right.  Talk to Happiness.  Treat it like it's real.  Treat it like it's positive energy that responds to you.  Because that's what it is.  Talk to it.

"Hello, Happiness, my old friend.  I've come to talk to you again."

Treat Happiness with respect.  Tell it some jokes.  Invite it over for dinner.

Instead of thinking about Happiness, go straight to the source.

It will talk back to you.

Just try it for a few days.  I'd love to know how it goes.

Positive Thinking on Steroids: Laughter In The Park

By Anne Bellamy, Author of Using The Law of Attraction To Help The Universe Help You

This past weekend, I attended my first Laughter Yoga class.  It's something that I'd heard about ages ago, and have always been curious about.

I was slightly worried as it was held outside, in a public park, for all to see.  I wondered if I would feel foolish, or embarassed.  But, being a firm believer in being silly, I dismissed my concerns and headed out to the park.

It was a beautiful day, possibly the last one London will see in a while.  I could see a group of people gathered in one corner of the park, under at tree, talking.  I  immediately knew which one was the instructor.  She had the biggest smile.  She had the most positive energy.  She simply glowed. I thought to myself "I want to look like that!" and eagerly headed over.

After a brief introduction, we got stuck in!  Lots of funny noises, role plays, and other laughter techniques ensued.

Did you know that the body can't distinguish between real and fake laughter?

Pretty soon, what started out as "fake" laughter, became genuine laughter.  It's contagious and I found myself giving in completely to the desire to laugh my friggin' head off.

Here I was, standing in a park in central London with 15 strangers, having a ball.  This doesn't happen very often, does it? (When I find myself in unusual circumstances like this, I like to take a moment and contemplate it.)

The session ended with all of us lying down on a giant tarpaulin, on our back, staring out at the giant tree above, laughing, laughing, laughing.  Just laughing.  For a good 10 minutes.

At the end, we just sat there in a circle and smiled.  Warmth, positivity, happiness and relief.  It felt so damn good!

Have you ever been to laughter yoga? Would you consider taking a class?

ps. for a brief history of the origin of laughter yoga click here.  It's spread....just like laughter should.

The Money Attracting Challenge Results

By Anne Bellamy, Author of Using The Law of Attraction To Help The Universe Help You

Yesterday was August 31, the deadline for the Money Attracting Challenge I participated in.  The results were....interesting.

My goal was to attract an extra £1000 by August 31.  Here's what I attracted:

Lots of free stuff, including:
Food and wine.(including 4 BBQ invites from friends....4 Saturdays in a row!)
Two free tickets to Wimbledon.
Free movie tickets.
My new book has started selling! (Yay me!)
I booked an extra job in September (this one was a surprise because it came from sources I didn't even know I had, working for me and recommending me.....The Universe works in mysterious ways!)

But here's the really strange part.  While I didn't exactly receive £1000 in cash or cheque form by the deadline.....my boyfriend did.

Recently his elderly great-aunt (aged 98) passed away.  Yesterday he found out that she left him £1500 in her will.  This came as a complete surprise to him.

At first, I was glad for him, and then I realized the date!  August 31!!  He got the money!  WTH???  Who did that?  Was it me (wish) or him (probably)? How did he manage to attract this money, without even trying, when I was trying to attract it, and didn't?

Technically the money is going into our household, so do I get to claim this as a win?

Here's what I will claim as a win:

Feeling more peace
Meditating more
Tending to my thoughts
Listening to my Guidance System (emotions)
Becoming much better at pivoting.
A general feeling of happiness and well-being
Blogging has now become a habit

Like they say, it's the journey and not the destination.  And look what I found along the way!

So, what do you think?  Did I pass my challenge?

Dear Money, I Love You

I just thought I'd let you know that.  There are so many reasons that I love you.

I love you for keeping me nourished.

I love you for keeping me safe and sheltered.

I love you for the comfort you bring me.

I love you for showing me the world.

I love you for all the education you have provided me with.

I love you for taking me home when I miss my family.

I love you for all the good times: the movies, the restaurants, the pubs, clubs and bars, the festivals, the concerts, the theatre, the dances, the shopping, oh, the shopping!

Money, you bring me so much joy.  Without you I wouldn't have the friends that I have.  I wouldn't have my loved ones.  People underestimate how much love you are capable of bringing....but not me.  You have filled my life with love, happiness and joy.

And I love you!  Thank God for you!  Thank you, Universe, for this wonderful money!

This post was inspired by my morning meditation session.  I started thinking about money, and all that it's brought me, and I couldn't wait to show my appreciation through this post. That's inspired action.

Money is energy and it responds when you call it.  But watch what you call it.  Do you hang out with people who don't like you, or do you hang out with people who love and appreciate you?

Remember the Golden Rule. Treat money the way you want to be treated.  Be kind to it, and it will be kind to you.

How Do You Avoid The Bite of The Energy Vampire?

By Anne Bellamy, Author of Using The Law of Attraction To Help The Universe Help You

Yesterday we decided to go blackberry picking (I know! We're obsessed) with some family.  On the way to the forest we were telling one of our relatives about our Open House visit the day before.

We told her about the house: how it was bigger, had more bedrooms and a bigger backyard.  Her reaction surprised us both:

"What on earth do you need with a bigger house?  The one you have now is perfectly fine for the two of you! You've got more than enough space."

Perfectly fine. She's right.  The house we have now is perfectly fine for the two of us.  That doesn't mean we can't want more.

Then later on, she asked what we were going to make with all the blackberries we picked.  Jam, we told her.

"Jam! Why jam!  You'll need loads of berries for jam. And if it doesn't turn out okay, you'll have wasted this whole afternoon."

Sheesh!  Seriously? She had an opinion on us making jam?

I was starting to bubble under the surface.  This energy vampire was sapping my strength!  What do you do when you encounter someone who rains on your parade?  I've had co-workers and even friends who were like this.  Gradually they faded away.  But this was a relative.  Bit trickier.

I needed a break from this. So, I found a quiet spot in the forest to pick berries by myself for a few minutes.  I paid attention to my emotions (frustration, resentment, a touch of anger) and attempted a pivot.

Okay, I thought, I don't like these feelings, so what do I like?  Well, I like feeling free to make my own choices.  I like feeling respected.  So I thought about what that would look like.  I thought about it until I felt better, and then I rejoined the group.

Phew!  Much better.  And then I even managed to appreciate the opinions of this relative.  They gave me the opportunity to practice my pivoting.  The more I practice, the easier and faster it gets.

That's how I dealt with my energy vampire yesterday.  What do you do?

p.s. made the jam.....it's awesome!

How Experiencing The Contrast Helps You Visualize What You Prefer

By Anne Bellamy, Author of  Using The Law of Attraction To Help The Universe Help You

This past weekend we decided to go to an Open House.  Are we moving? Nah, not yet.  Thinking about it?  Kinda just starting to.  We live in a small but cozy house, which is fine, because it's jus the two of us.  But when my boyfriend suggested checking out this house nearby, I said yes!

I was enthusiastic, not because I'm eager to move, but because I was eager to experience some contrast.
When you experience contrast, you get a better idea of what you want in life.

Just hours before we went, my boyfriend said, "is there really any point? We can't afford this house anyway"
to which I replied:

"Hell yes, there's a point!  The point is for us to experience that which we prefer. This house is bigger than ours.  It has a bigger backyard and a garage.  It's finished (regular readers will recall that our house isn't)

When we experience that which we prefer, we then are able to focus on it.  Most people, after seeing something they prefer, tend to focus on the fact that they lack what they prefer.  This is a chance to imagine ourselves somewhere bigger.  This is a chance to focus on what we want. When we go see this house, don't focus on the fact that it may be nicer than ours.  But focus on what you like about it, and imagine yourself living there. Stay positive."

Honestly, I don't know how it worked for him.  I can't monitor his vibrations.  But I do know that I imagined myself in this house.  I know what I liked about it.  I know when I visualize I can see aspects of this house that I preferred.  I can see myself living there.

We came home, and walked through the front door, and I thought to myself "Home sweet, home"  For while I can visualize myself in a different home, I fully intend to show the one I have my full appreciation.

I appreciate that it protects me from the elements.  I appreciate that it keeps me warm.  I appreciate that it keeps all my stuff safe.  I appreciate that I feel home here.

First World Problems????

By Anne Bellamy, Author of Using The Law of Attraction To Help The Universe Help You

Yesterday a friend of mine sent me this video:

It made me start to think about my own "First World Problems" hmm....the lightbulb in my bathroom went out yesterday and I don't have a spare one....I'll have to go out and buy one, at the store around the corner!

Last night, while watching TV, we got a bit peckish.  Then, the horror!  We realized we didn't have any snack food in the house.  Again, we had to go out and buy some Doritos, at the store, around the corner!

And did I mention that there was nothing good on TV?!?!  Can you believe it?

My fridge is too full of food (on a serious note, this is something that I really have complained about.  Can you believe that?)

First World Problems are all pretty insignificant, aren't they?  The best way to learn that is to go to a Third World Country.  You'll realize pretty darn quickly how lucky you really are.  I learned this lesson myself when (a few years after graduating from University, something I took for granted at the time) I spent 6 weeks travelling in East Africa.

It changed my life.  Not only because it's where I met my boyfriend, but because I had never seen people live with so little.  I felt ashamed of all the things I took for granted in my life.  The fact that I went to University was a given.  All my peers were doing it, so I would too.  Didn't dawn on my that I was damn lucky, to not only go to University, but that it was always an assumption that I would.

Africa is where I truly learned to count my blessings.  And yes, I do forget to do that from time to time, but I'm pretty good at it. There's so much in my life worthy of appreciation.  I won't bore you with what those things are, but if you're reading this, you probably have a lot to appreciate in your life too.

So, whaddya think?  What First World Problems do you have, which are, in fact, not problems, but blessings?

Listening to My Guidance System

Last night while I was reading Money and The Law of Attraction, I came across this sentence:

"Many people ignore their Guidance System by tolerating negative emotion and, in doing so, deny themselves the benefit of Guidance from Broader Perspective."

It really spoke to me.  Do you know anyone like that?  I do.  At least I used to.  Most of the people in my life right now are positive, happy souls.  I drew them to me, so big thanks to me!  But, in the past, I have certainly met people who seemed downright determined to be miserable.  It occurred to me that those people do not realize how much self-sabotaging they are doing.  It also occurred to me to be grateful that I am on a different path; that I've learned the difference that a positive mental attitude makes.

So, after reading the above passage, I said "thanks" to the Universe.  As I've been a glass is half full person for many years, it was this attitude that led me to a bookstore (in search of a cookbook) which ultimately led me to the self-help section where I picked up an intriguing-looking book called "The Secret".

Long story short, it led me to other important learnings, teachers and resources that put me on the deliberate path I'm on today.

Why was I in the bookstore to begin with?  To get myself out of a grumpy mood and do some Christmas shopping. I was deliberately trying to get in the "Christmas mood" and cheer myself up.....and boy did I benefit from that one decision, which seemed so insignificant at the time.

That brings me back to the quote at the beginning of the post.  While not realizing it, I was listening to my Guidance System, which was telling me I was in a grumpy mood, which I refused to tolerate.  And I did receive the benefit of "Guidance from Broader Perspective".

Again, last night as I thought about this, I let the gratitude surround me and emanate from me.  Thank You Thank You Thank You!

In other news, I have continued my meditation practice.

The effect of taking 5 minutes to meditate every hour?  I find myself smiling uncontrollably (not trying to stop, actually)  even when the saddest song in the world comes on the radio (Adele, I'm talking to you)

I know there are bigger challenges in life than to remain happy when you hear a sad song, but that was just my experience yesterday.  Feeling grateful that I don't have those bigger challenges.

Visualizing and Seeing Clearly

Yesterday something seriously cool happened to me (or rather by me)  Since the age of 13 I have worn glasses and/or contacts.  My eyesight got steadily worse until about the age of 27 at which point it's pretty much remained the same.

Not once, since about the age of 18, have I ever left the house, or even gotten out of bed without first popping my glasses on my face.

As you know, I've been reading Money and The Law of Attraction to keep me focused on my goal.  It's not just about money, though.  There's a huge section on health, which is what I've been reading.  In a nutshell, you and only you can determine the state of your physical body, and if you want it to flourish and remain healthy, you have to take the time to think thoughts that reflect that.

As part of my commitment to "take 5" every hour, I spent 5 minutes yesterday visualizing my perfect health.

Later on in the afternoon, after the rain finally stopped and the sun came out, I decided to sit outside and bask in the corner of my backyard where the sun was still hitting.  I took my glasses off, and put on my sunglasses, closed my eyes and took 5 for that hour.

Then, I picked up my book and continued to read it.  I read 4 whole pages before it suddenly dawned on me.  I was NOT wearing my glasses!  I was still wearing my non-subscription sunglasses!  AND I READ 4 PAGES!!!!  This blew me away!  I laughed and laughed and laughed.  "This is AMAZING" I thought, and then "I can't believe this" and BOOM just like that it was over.  Poor eyesight resumed.

"I can't believe this"

I thought long and hard about what that statement really means.  We say it all the time when something remarkable happens, don't we?  I think we should stop.  It's like telling the Universe, "nope, I don't have faith in this, please take it away"

From now on, let's practice saying "I can believe this"  and "I made this happen" and "thanks Universe! This feels great!" (because it did, while I allowed it to last)

Expect Success

By Anne Bellamy, Author of Using The Law of Attraction To Help The Universe Help You

Day 44 and I feel exuberant.  I feel expectant.  I feel eager.  I feel excited.  It's a good day, as you can see!  Why do I feel this way?  Because I've taken the time to think thoughts that make me feel this way.  Because I've taken the time to meditate often, and clear up any negativity.

For a few days now I've been meditating several times throughout the day.  Sometimes it's 5 minutes, sometimes 15.  I try and take a meditation break once an hour.  Sometimes I just sit in peace, other times I use inspiration like Youtube where there are lots of meditation videos, sometimes I sit and visualize.  Sometimes I'm in public and just concentrate on counting my breaths.

It depends on where I am, and what my surroundings are.  I like taking this regular break.  It feels refreshing and just plain good for me.

I've also continued to study my Abraham Hicks.  Such an inspiration for me, and a great reminder for keeping me focused on positive thoughts.  I'm gonna talk big today.

This is a GREAT idea.
That is FANTASTIC
I feel AWESOME

I've written my Appreciation List for the day and am smiling as I look at it and contemplate all the blessings I have created for myself.  I am a powerful creator and today I choose to create wealth, abundance and freedom.

Try saying that yourself, or some variation of it.  Say it often, because it feels so good!  Remember, there is nothing more important than feeling good.  Your happiness depends on it.

Meditation and The Money Attracting Challenge

Yesterday I wrote about my goal of meditating every hour for 5 minutes.  I was pretty successful.  I even managed to meditate on the tube. It's not actually that hard. Everyone's pretty much in their own head space on the tube. I just closed my eyes and tried to tune out. (I made sure I did it at the beginning of my journey so I wouldn't be worried about missing my stop)

I did it while walking.  Obviously eyes were open, but I concentrated on my breathing.  Trying to quiet my mind.

I managed to snag 5 minutes for every hour, up until about 7pm.

Boyfriend came home, dinner was served, TV came on.....I got distracted and it wasn't until 11pm that I remembered my goal.  Oh well, I took 5 minutes before going to bed.

I was a little annoyed with myself when I realized I missed 4 hours.  Not because I didn't necessarily accomplish my goal, but because I enjoy meditating.  I liked taking 5 minute breaks and tuning out.  It's revitalizing.  It puts me in a good mood.

But then I got over myself.  I also enjoy winding down at the end of the day with my boyfriend and a nice glass of wine.  That also puts me in a good mood.

It also put me in a good mood when our neighbour knocked on our door and handed us a bowl of tomatoes from their garden.  No reason, just that they had lots and thought we'd like some.  Thank you neighbour!  They are delicious!

Free stuff keeps coming to me.  Or has it always been coming to me, and I'm now just noticing it?  Hmmm...don't know really, but I'm glad that I'm noticing.  It gives my intentions more focus.  It inspires me to keep on this path.  It renews my faith.

That's it for today...tomorrow I'll continue my meditation in small chunks.

Meditating in Small Chunks

Yesterday I watched a video posted by my Twitter friend Ryan Biddulph, on the benefits of meditation.  Have a look:

Boy, do I know what he means when he says we get caught up in day to day activities, like "gotta pay that bill".  I can relate when he says we get so obsessed with getting by, that we forget to live.  I've certainly been guilty of this.

Although I've been meditating for a few years now, there are some days when I just don't get around to it.

Well I can't use that excuse now that I have a Round Tuit.

I watched this video exactly when I needed to.  The Universe was giving me a nudge.  Time to get my meditation on!  And I've decided to follow Ryan's suggestion and try to meditate for 5 minutes every hour.  My main concern is that I will simply forget.  But I do work better when I have a schedule.  So every hour on the hour is my target.

Thanks for watching the video.  It spoke to me, and I hope it speaks to you too.

p.s. I may not have been in a Cambodian jungle, but I did relish the peace and quiet of the forest I was in yesterday morning while blackberry picking :-)

Day 40: Still Learning

Yesterday was my boyfriend's niece's 2nd birthday, so we went over to his sister's house for a BBQ and family party.  We always like going over there because both she and her husband really good cooks, and the booze is always plentiful!

For a few years now his sister has expressed a desire to move house.  They've got 3 young children and 2 of them share a bedroom.  It's a nice house, in a very nice location, but a tad small for their family.  Her husband however, doesn't want to move.

So last night we were chatting with her once more about the possibility of them moving to a bigger house.  She came out with something which really surprised me.  She said she's starting to accept the fact that they won't be moving any time soon.  She started talking about how you should just appreciate what you have and not pine away for something you don't have.  Life's too short and you should count your blessings.

I was really surprised to hear her say this, because I've never heard her talk like this before.  She got all philosophical on us!  It was nice, quite frankly, to hear her speak like this.  You should be appreciative of what you already have (nice house, nice location etc...) and stop worrying about what you don't have.  That is the quickest way to get more of what you like.  Appreciate it.  She wants a bigger house?  She's decided to appreciate the nice one she already has.

After a few minutes of hearing her talk like this, I was reminded of what I wrote in my last post.  People around me are starting to say things, and behave in certain ways which are now a reflection of what I am trying to attract myself.  They are showing me the way.  Teachers are popping up in places (and people) I hadn't expected.  You know what they say, when the student is ready, the teacher will appear.

Guess I'm ready!

Day 39: Learning from Novices.

Yesterday, as the stock markets once again, plunged, I had the slightly daunting task of telling my boyfriend that his shares (which I had been watching online for him, while he was busy doing some DIY) had fallen quite a bit.  His reaction?

"Damn!"

Pause......

"Oh, well.  It's just money."

He shrugged his shoulders, cracked a joke and carried on what he was doing.   The man pivoted like an expert!  I was so impressed.  I stood there and watched him continue to sand a piece of wood.

Last week, while talking to my brother, he told me he lost a ton of money on his shares, which he followed up with "oh well, it's just money."  He then changed the subject to something lighter.

I kind of forgot about what my brother had said last week, until my boyfriend said the exact same thing yesterday.  It got me to thinking.  These are two guys who are both successful, and who both have a knack for attracting money to them.  They both are able to see the potential money in many situations.

Now, I've never heard either one of them talk about the Law of Attraction (I've talked to my boyfriend, but the conversation is usually one-way), or how their thoughts and emotional well-being have helped them attract money.  I think it's something they both instinctively know.

And then I started to think, there's a reason these two guys are in my life, and it's not just because one of them is family.  There's a reason I had this conversation with both of them.  You attract what you think about.  (like I didn't already know this) You attract certain people.  Example: I believe it's extremely important to laugh, and as a result, I'm surrounded by some very funny people (family, friends, boyfriend).  They make me laugh A LOT!

My point is: I often turn to experts outside of my circle, to learn from.  But I don't necessarily have to do that.  I've got at least two experts in my life right now.  I just didn't realize it.  They may not talk about it, but these guys know how to attract what they want.  Which makes me happy!  It tells me I'm on the right road.

Their attitude towards money is inspiring.  Should we be putting so much pressure on money in an effort to attract it?  Or should we just shrug our shoulders, and trust that the money will flow back to us.  I think we all know the answer to that one.

My teachers yesterday were two of the people closest to me.  They weren't "experts".  They're just two guys who know the secret, without necessarily knowing they know it!

My lesson?  Listen to those closest to me.  There's a reason they are close to me.  They will teach me what I need to learn.

Day 38: Asking and Receiving

This Money Attracting Challenge has got me paying attention to my thoughts and feelings.  It has me searching for inspiration.  It keeps me accountable (because I said I'd journal this online).  Occasionally, it gets me a bit frustrated.  I will admit that there are days or moments rather, when I just feel, well, at a loss.

It's a deeply ingrained (and bad) habit to try and figure out the "how" of so many things: How will this money come to me? How will I figure out what I will have to do?  How will I accomplish this? How will I find the resources? Ah! That question turned on a lightbulb in my head.

I look for inspiration quite a bit, especially on the internet.  There are so many great resources, so many great videos, blogs, newsletter, people to follow on Twitter who inspire me and for those I am grateful.  But there are times, when I can't find them.  Simply come up a dud.  I go to read a blog that I regularly read and the post doesn't "speak" to me.  Not that it's a bad post, it just didn't add value to me on that particular day.  I'll still go back to it.  It's just that the writer was speaking to a different audience on that day.

So I returned to my question" How will I find the resources?"  Something about that question struck a chord with me.  So I decided to do what I usually do in these situations.  Found a quiet place and just meditated.  It was while meditating that the answer came to me.  It's glaringly obvious, actually.

We all have a Source.  As you know, I read a lot of Abraham Hicks.  Most people who are interested in the Law of Attraction do.  It was Esther who taught me how to contact my own Source, through meditation.  S/he, or they, collectively call themselves Efram.  He's my go to guru.  I've known this for a few years now, but amazingly, I still sometimes forget about him.

But not yesterday. I learned a trick from Abraham Hicks and was reminded of it yesterday. I asked Efram "Please help me to find the vibration necessary to feel abundant.". That's it.  As soon as the request was sent, the feeling came to me, immediately, like a thunderbolt.   I felt amazing.

It's a simple as that.  Asking for help, and receiving it.  Sometimes we forget to ask.  I know I do.  Sometimes help is offered to us, and we don't see it as an opportunity.  If it's offered, you probably requested it on some level....so accept it!  Not accepting help is equal to rejecting it.  Telling the Universe,
"Don't send this thing my way"

We all need help from time to time.  Accept it.  Appreciate it. Bless it.  You'll find yourself surrounding by helpful people.  I know I do!

Day 37: Visualizing Cheques and Feeling Good!

The morning of Day 37, and when the mail arrived, I walked into our hallway to see an envelope with one of those windows on it.  Inside I could see RED paper.  My heart immediately started pounding.  Did I forget to pay a bill????  Red means final notice, doesn't it? WTH????

Fortunately, I was able to get control of my thoughts.  I turned around, took a deep breath, and did some pivoting.  What would it look like if I got cheques through the mail?  I immediately started to visualize cheques pouring through the mail slot.  I saw myself opening the envelopes, pulling out the cheques, and seeing the figures on them.  Boy, that felt better!  I must admit, I was proud of myself for taking a fearful moment and turning it into a happy one.

After I got myself into a better-feeling place, I turned back around, picked up the envelope and opened it.  It was a voter registration card, confirming our details.  I guess the red was to let us know it was an important document, but sheesh, I could have done without that heart pounding.

However, being a "glass is half full" kinda gal, I felt appreciation for the moment, because it gave me a chance to test and practise my pivoting skills.

Remember, it's not which way the wind is blowing, but if you are able to adjust your sails.

Now, who said that?

Making Abundant Money Choices

Yesterday I continued to watch Andrea Hess' video series on Youtube, where she had set herself her own Money Attracting Challenge.

In particular, I was drawn to a video called "Making Abundant Money Choices"  The concept is this: Make choices regarding your money, on how you would like to stand, financially, in 3 to 6 months.  Let's be clear.  She doesn't say make choices based on where you'd like to be 5 years from now.  She's set a reasonable time frame I think, so that your money choices don't bankrupt you in a few weeks' time.

But to make choices on where we'd like to be in a few months time, sends out certain vibrations.  You're basically saying, here's where I expect to be in 3 months. And, as you know, expecting a certain outcome is a certain way to manifest it.

So I decided to start making money decisions based on where I'd like to be by the end of August, as per the terms of The Money Attracting Challenge.

It got me thinking of all the things I want to do, how I can use my money, where I can invest it, what fun I'd have with it.  I started daydreaming, or better yet, visualizing myself with the money.  I haven't quite decided where I'll put it, but will keep you posted.

Other activities for the day?  The usual, folks.  Always with the meditation!  Keeping a closer eye on what I'm thinking, and what I'm feeling.  Making conscious decisions to pivot....it gets easier the more you practice it.  Cutting out the criticisms, and boy has August provided a lot for me to criticize!  If you're not a regular reader, I live in London....'nuff said.

Appreciation is Bringing Me The Goods

This weekend the dog-sitting began. I wasn't exactly ecstatic about this when we first agreed.  I was concerned that my boyfriend was going away that weekend and that I would be alone with a dog (not being a "dog person" this freaked me out a bit)

However, I decided to let go of any worries I had, and decided it would all work out.  My boyfriend's weekend got cancelled (due to external reasons - not ME!) and I would not have to spend the entire weekend alone with this dog.

Not only that, but her owners showed up with: 4 oranges, 1 quart of milk, half a watermelon, and a blackberry crumble.  Yes, they emptied the contents of their fridge in anticipation for their trip.  They gave us the food they didn't think would keep for a week.  To me, it's just more FREEBIES and I accepted them with thanks.

This weekend I've meditated, and did my 40 minute run both days. Both of these activities I look forward to.  I ALWAYS feels good afterwards.

More blackberry picking....the forest is absolutely heaving with them!

I'm giving thanks more and more for the little things.  I've talked about this before, but I realize more and more how much I took for granted.  How I would scoff at free things that didn't seem like much (like the friends who brought the food).  I'm learning more and more to feel appreciation for everything that comes my way: be it money, food, drink, fun events, you name it. I'm looking out for, expecting their arrival and appreciating them when they get here.

What about you?  What do you take for granted that you should be showing appreciation for?

p.s. dog's been easy!

Wouldn't It Be Cool If.....

Yesterday I came across a blog post by Joe Vitale in which he writes about a Law of Attraction shortcut.  In essence, you say to yourself "Wouldn't it be cool if....." then fill in the blank.

So I had sat down, closed my eyes and said:

"Wouldn't it be cool if I were lying on a warm, sandy beach?" Then I pictured it.

"Wouldn't it be cool if I had lots of unexpected income?" Then I pictured it....rendering it "expected" I know, I know!

"Wouldn't it be cool if I lost those last five stubborn pounds?" Then I pictured it.

"Wouldn't it be cool if I got more free stuff?" Then I pictured it.

I thought of about 10 more "Wouldn't it be cool..." scenarios, followed up with a visualization.

The cool thing about visualization is that emotions are part of the package.  It's hard to imagine yourself on a tropical beach, with a pina colada and not feel happy.  That's the point.  Why would I want to?  I want to feel happy!

The result of these "Wouldn't it be cool..." moments?

1. This morning I weighed myself and I'm 3 pounds lighter than I was the same time yesterday!  Yippee!

2. In today's mail came some tea samples.  I've gotten tea samples before, and every time, it's always one teabag.  Well, today I didn't get one, or two, or even three.  Today I got TWENTY free tea bags!!!
You may be saying "Big whoop!" but yesterday I imagined getting free stuff.  It may seem kinda small, but it's FREE STUFF!  And lots of it!  I'm counting it folks!  Because I know if I recognize it as something I attracted, then more of it will come.

Bigger, shinier, GREENER, stuff is on its way to me, because I know I can do it, and I trust the Universe to bring it.

In Universe I Trust

Yesterday I decided it was time to get back on track with this manifesting money thing.  Not that I really went off the track, it's just that I felt a bit off-course, what with everything that has been going on in London this past week.

I've been focusing so much on staying positive and looking for good news.  Don't get me wrong, that's totally what I should be doing.  Feeling good is the most important thing.  I did lose my focus on the money part, a little bit, though.

Time to re-focus.

I was looking around Youtube yesterday and I found a woman named Andrea Hess who appears to have given herself the same kind of challenge, a few years ago.  I've only watched the first two of her videos, so I don't know how it turned out for her.  She wanted to make $30,000 in one month.

In her first video, she talks about putting herself out there.  Uploading videos of her challenge.  She talks about not knowing how or where the money is going to come from.  She also talks about how having trust in the Universe is essential to attract what you want.

It all sounded very good to me.  I can relate to the "putting myself out there" part, as that's exactly what I'm doing with my daily blog posts.  Before accepting this challenge, I posted a blog every once in a while.  Now it's a part of my daily routine.
Some days I'm more excited to post than others.  Kinda like exercise.  Some days I'm rarin' to go, other days I've got to kick myself in the butt.  Some days I give myself a day off.

I figure that's okay.  I always get back on track.  I trust the Universe doesn't mind.  I trust the Universe knows what I want.  I trust the Universe is bringing it to me.

So yesterday, while meditating, I told the Universe how much I trusted it.   I told Money how much I loved it.  I felt happy.  I felt abundant.  I felt proud of myself for taking the time to invest in me.  Because that's really what this is all about: investing in yourself.  Can you be bothered?  Are you too lazy?  God knows I'm prone to laziness.  But I've made a decision that I'm worth it.

Day 31: Feeling Better

I woke up on Day 31 with an overwhelming feeling of relief. I hadn't turned on the news, so I didn't know yet what was going on in London.  I just woke up feeling better. I recited to myself what Abraham  recommends in Money and The Law of Attraction:

(Paraphrasing here)

"Today is a new day and it is my dominent intention to find that which pleases me because there is nothing more important than feeling good.  I intend to feel good today."

It worked and I felt better yesterday, despite news that the riots had spread north.

I looked for things that made my heart sing.  I found something and it explains my love for this country and for many in it.  The Brits have an indomitable spirit, a "get-on-with-it-ness", and a cracking sense of humour.

Watch:

That's gotta put a smile on your face :-)

Now That's What I'm Talkin' About!: The London I Love

By Anne Bellamy, Author of Using The Law of Attraction To Help The Universe Help You

Yesterday I told you My Story of London, and how that was what I was going to focus on.  Well, today I've got another story of London to focus on and it makes my heart sing!  The picture says it all. #riotcleanup

The Calm During The Storm: My Story of London

London's burning and it makes me sad.

I wasn't born or raised in this city, or even this country, but London is a place I've come to love, and one I call home.  To see all the needless destruction happening here breaks my heart.

But it's times like these (crises) when I take stock:

1. My home is fine.

2. My neighbourhood is fine.

4. My livelihood is fine.

3. My loved ones are fine.

I know not everyone can say that, but it's what I'm choosing to focus on.  Does that sound selfish? Damn straight, it does.  I intend to be incredibly selfish, especially now.  I've got to focus inward before I focus outward.

I've also got a different story of London to tell you.  I remember a day, not so long ago, when thousands and thousands of people took to the street.  They were everywhere.  Central London was packed. Streets were closed. Police were out in full force.

The date? April 29, 2011.  The Royal Wedding.

My boyfriend and I were two of those people who hit the streets on that day. We were at Westminster Abbey, St. James' Park, and finally ended up in Hyde Park to watch the wedding on the big screens.  We packed a picnic, brought a bottle of bubbly and carried our flags: his a Union Jack, mine a Maple Leaf.

The atmosphere was electric. Just imagine:  Everywhere you looked, throngs of people were smiling, laughing, celebrating, cheering, toasting, crying tears of joy and yes, even dancing.

It was a day of happiness, celebration and romance.

It was a day of magic.

I remember thinking what an amazing experience it was to be in London on that day.  I remember thinking, I'm so glad I live here.

When we got home later that evening, we plopped down on the couch, exhausted and exhilarated.

It's a day I will always look back on and say "I was there."

It's also the way I choose to think of London.  It feels me with warmth and gratitude.  It reminds me why I love it here.  It's a better-feeling day for me to focus on.

Selfish? Yep. Feel Better? Definitely.

Day 28: Gratitude for Freebies

Day 28 started out with my 40 minute run where I continued my love affair with money.  It feels particularly good to do this while running because it combines feeling strong, both mentally and physically, which helps me feel good emotionally.

We then went blackberry picking in the forest near our house.  Because this challenge has forced me to pay attention to my thoughts and feelings, I made sure I gave thanks to the forest for the free food it was providing for us.  Sound corny?  Maybe just a bit, but it was a beautiful day, and we were peacefully picking (free) fruit, so why not give thanks?

In fact, the blackberries are so plentiful this year, our freezer is starting to get full (thank you!)

Money doesn't just come to you in bills and coins.  It doesn't just appear in bank statements.  Money is also in the freebies out there.  Free fruit, unexpected coupons that come through the door, and in my case, at the beginning of July, two free tickets to Wimbledon, a dream come true for me.

If you're looking for money in your life, make sure you count the freebies that you get.  Often we ignore them, and don't count them as money.  But they are.  So give thanks to something that you got for free.  Appreciate the freebies, and they'll keep coming to you.

The Money Attracting Challenge: Day 27

Day 27 and I woke up around 6am, which is kinda early for me on a Saturday. The reason I woke up so early is because I was having a dream I didn't care for. You know the one where you're back in school, and you haven't attended a class all semester and you're just about to write the exam?

Yeah, that one.

It's been awhile since I finished school, so I haven't had this dream in a long time.  Fortunately, when I'm having an unpleasant dream, I'm able to decide "this kinda sucks, I'm outta here" and I wake myself up.  This is what happened Saturday morning....but I woke up with a headache!

I'm not really into dream analysis, so I tend to just let the bad ones go, and move on.  Since I've been doing this Money Attracting Challenge, I've gotten much better at paying attention to how I'm feeling, not just emotionally, but physically as well.  I'm also taking action to intentionally focus on positive things.  So, with headache (lightly) pounding away, I started thinking about all the wonderful things money brings me.  I thought back to yesterday's post

I pictured where that money will take me.  I allowed myself to feel the emotions.

Then I thought about the rest of my day.  We had a birthday party to attend which I was really looking forward to.  I thought about how much fun it was going to be.  I thought about the nice BBQ they were going to have.

Before getting out of bed, I had thought my way out of a headache.  Still wasn't too happy about being up so early, but this is all about taking lemons and turning them into lemonade.  So I got up, made some coffee, sat outside and enjoyed the peace and sunshine.

Birthday party was a blast....good food, good company, good wine, and best of all, no hangover!
